Block MD11, National University of Singapore

Block MD11 houses the Centre for Medical Education (Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine). Its primary role is to further promote professionalism and excellence in medical education through: (a) faculty development, (b) medical curriculum development and (c) research in medical education. It is therefore appropriate as the main meeting venue for the workshop.

By Taxi/ Private Car

  • NUS is easily accessible by Taxi.
  • You can also use apps like Grab or Uber to hire private cars to drive you to the venue.

By Mass Rapid Transit (MRT)

  • NUS is closest to the Kent Ridge MRT Station along the Circle Line. To walk to the MD11 Building from Kent Ridge Station take the A Exit, and follow the marked route along the main Hospital block. After you pass by the Hospital, take the covered walkway to MD11. Look out for the Starbucks Cafe located at the Foyer of the MD 11 Building. On the Sunday morning of the Workshop there will be Volunteers to help you find your way from the Kent Ridge Station.

  • You can purchase either a standard one-time travel ticket (a S$1 deposit is required and can be refunded at any General Ticketing Machine or Passenger Service Centre at your alighting station) or an EZ-Link card from any Transitlink Ticket Office in Singapore (with a minimum stored value of S$10).

  • The following bus routes serve MD11: 95 and 96. You can either use cash or purchase an EZ-Link card from any Transitlink Ticket Office in Singapore (with a minimum stored value of S$10).

NUSMed Flow Cytometry Laboratory Unit

With over 20 year’s history, NUSMed Flow Cytometry Laboratory Unit has established a good reputation of services among the NUHS and Singapore research communities. As a one stop solution facility, we provide specialized flow cytometry training and consultation to users of all background. Our experienced staffs provide necessary guidance to users from experimental and protocol designs, to sample preparation, data acquisition and analysis. The core offers state-of-the-art flow cytometry analysis and high-speed sorting. It is equipped with 2 analyzers and 2 sorters which can perform up to 16 colors and sorting into 6-way or even 384-well plate. We also deliver high quality flow cytometry workshop/courses, discussion forum as well as a platform for clinician scientists, residents, graduate students, medical students and researchers to establish collaborations.

Life Sciences Institute Flow Cytometry Lab

The flow cytometry laboratory of the Life Sciences Institute at the National University of Singapore is a state of the art facility that provides flow cytometric services to the members of the Institute, and also to many other users inside and outside NUS. The lab is run by Dr Paul Hutchinson who has over 30 years’ experience operating flow cytometers. Dr Hutchinson has published widely in the field and has extensive knowledge of the cellular assays that utilize flow cytometry. Besides help with the operation of the machines, the flow cytometry lab also offers assistance and advice on the setup and analysis of your flow cytometry experiments. The LSI Flow Cytometry lab has been operating for over 10 years and at the moment is equipped with 3 flow cytometers for cell analysis purposes; and 2 cell sorters.

SingHealth Flow Cytometry Core Platform

SingHealth Flow Cytometry is strategically located on Outram Campus, serving all SingHealth laboratories and all researchers around. The core platform has been in operation for more than 4 years and is well-equipped with 3 flow cytometers mainly for cell analysis and a high-end flow cell sorter. These instruments come with different optical configurations which will cater for most flow cytometry-based applications. Besides providing flow cytometry services, the core strives to promote flow cytometry by organizing workshops and seminars periodically.

SIgN Flow Cytometry Facility

The SIgN Flow Cytometry Platform is an established, state-of-the-art facility that provides researchers with a wide range of cutting-edge cell sorters and analyzers that are able to identify up to 28 parameters in a single specimen. Experienced technical support staffs (4 ICCE certified) are also available to provide guidance in various areas; experimental design, staining protocols, cell sorting and data interpretation. Training sessions are also conducted to equip new users with the necessary skills needed to operate the analyzers independently. Made up of 7 sorters and 13 analyzers, the team is well-equipped to handle the large diversity and volume of flow cytometry demands from the institute and beyond. That includes a service arm that caters to A*STAR Research Institutes (RIs) and a range of external companies.
